Millennials (born between 1980-1995) are quickly transitioning into their home buying years. With this comes a shift in marriage, amenities, and family planning. This generation has delayed some of these hallmarks of adulthood more than other generations, but all indications suggest that Millennials are getting ready to hit the market in search of homes.
New Home Features with Strongest Appeal
Looking to uncover what features have the strongest appeal in today’s new home market, the National Association of Home Builders just released their 2014 survey of membership. Across the board, energy-saving features were winners, with Energy-Star rated appliances, programmable thermostats, and insulated windows all scoring high on wish lists. Beyond the practical, builders are seeing an uptick in requests for walk-in closets in master bedrooms, expanded laundry room areas, and family great rooms where everyone can gather at the end of the day.
